Scattered Showers, Storms Ahead of Cold Christmas Weather in South Florida

Our coldest weather will be Friday night through Saturday night, with many folks waking up to the 40s on Saturday and Christmas mornings.

Meteorologist Steve MacLaughlin has the evening forecast for Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022.

After gloomy and unsettled weather Friday and Saturday, Sunday looks a little bit better by the afternoon, but still nothing to write home about just yet.

Expect on and off showers to continue Saturday night and Sunday morning. We’ll begin the day at 68°.

By Sunday afternoon, most of the rain pushed south, although if we see any sun in the afternoon, it would be sunny “breaks” at best with only an isolated afternoon shower. The high will be a seasonable 77° and humidity should be dropping off from north to south.

Monday should be lovely with partly cloudy skies and only a 10% rain chance. We’ll go from a seasonably cool 64° in the morning to a seasonably pleasant 77° in the afternoon.

Rain chances increase Tuesday through Friday with the heaviest rain on Tuesday night.

Friday is the big cold front that will cause life-threatening weather in parts of the United States. Models are still hinting at wind chills in Dallas between zero and -10° but up north, wind chills could drop to near -50° in places like Bismarck, North Dakota.

Our coldest weather will be Friday night through Saturday night, with many folks waking up to the 40s on Saturday and Christmas mornings. Saturday’s high will be 65°, with Christmas Day being a few degrees warmer. As cold as this is, we won’t be anywhere near record territory, but the chances of a "warm’ Christmas are zero percent.
