Isolated showers are expected around the area this morning with temperatures in the upper 70s.

They are quick moving with the strong breeze 10 to 15 mph.

The wind will pick up even more this afternoon. Sustained easterly wind 20 to 25 mph is expected with gusts up to 30 mph.

Beach hazards continue with high surf advisories for Broward County, rip current statements for everyone, and small craft advisories for the open waters of the Atlantic.

Highs today return to the mid-80s.

This week, each day is a little more active than the day before. Wednesday looks to be the wettest day with tropical moisture more widespread.

Windy and off and on downpours will come as the system moves into the gulf. For now, the forecast is projected to keep it west of our area so improving conditions by the end of the week and into the weekend are anticipated.

We still are watching Potential Tropical Cyclone 18. As of the 4 a.m. update, the disturbance is expected to become Tropical Storm Rafael today.

There are tropical storm warnings for Jamaica and the storms looks to pass through the island by Tuesday morning.

Forecasts have it strengthening to a hurricane before making landfall in western Cuba.

Watches and warnings are likely to expand today as well as it moves into the Gulf. The long range track currently keeps is west of Florida.

Tuesday: A 40% chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Windy, with an east wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Wednesday: A 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Windy, with an east wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Windy, with a southeast wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
