A man had to be pulled from the wreckage after a violent crash shut down multiple lanes of Krome Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the call for help came in around 6:10 a.m. when they received reports of a crash between a tractor-trailer and another vehicle with someone trapped inside.

The crash involved a Dodge pickup truck that was hauling the trailer and trying to make a left turn from Southwest 122nd Street from Krome Avenue, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The trailer was partially blocking some lanes when a Chevrolet SUV crashed into it, FHP officials said. The trailer became detached and was struck again by a semi-truck.

Emergency crews worked to extricate one adult, described as a trauma alert patient, from the SUV.
Aerial footage showed multiple firefighters removing the man from the vehicle's wreckage. At one point, they cut the SUV's roof off to get the man out.
A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue helicopter also responded and landed as first responders worked to help the victim.
The victim was flown to the trauma center at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital with serious injuries, officials said. His identity wasn't released.
