Florida Highway Patrol said the exit ramp to Broward Boulevard is shut down due to the investigation. NBC6’s Johanna Torres reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on an Interstate 95 entrance ramp in Fort Lauderdale early Monday.

The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. on the ramp I-95 southbound near Broward Boulevard.

FHP officials said a woman was driving a 2024 Hyundai as the pedestrian was walking on the ramp in the outside lane.

The driver was "unable to attempt an evasive maneuver" and struck the pedestrian, sending him airborne

The pedestrian, whose identity wasn't released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 62-year-old woman from Lake Placid, Florida, wasn't injured.

The ramp to Broward Boulevard was closed for the investigation.
