2 hurt, all lanes shut down after crash on MacArthur Causeway

A crash has shut down all lanes on the MacArthur Causeway (Interstate 395) in both directions Friday morning. NooBC6’s Johanna Torres reports.

Two people were hurt in a crash that shut down all lanes on the MacArthur Causeway (Interstate 395) in both directions early Friday. Lanes have since reopened.

It happened at around 12:30 a.m. on the causeway at Terminal Isle, Miami Beach police said.

Two people involved in the crash were taken to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center by the Miami Beach Fire Department, police said.

More details about what may have caused the collision were not immediately available.

Two people were hurt in a crash that shut down all lanes on the MacArthur Causeway (Interstate 395) in both directions early Friday.

Video of the area at 5:30 a.m. appears to show two cars, one on the eastbound lanes and another on the westbound lanes. Debris littered the roadway, and one of the cars was left mangled. Another could be seen damaged on the opposite lanes.

The MacArthur Causeway was fully closed between Fountain Street and 5th Street and Alton Road while the Miami Beach Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit investigates.

Drivers were advised to take the Julia Tuttle Causeway (Interstate 195) or the Venetian Causeway as alternate routes to Miami Beach. 

By 10 a.m., the causeway had fully reopened.
