Thief Uses New Wrinkle to Steal Botox

Woman steals Botox services worth thousands

A Southern California woman got nearly $2,000 worth of cosmetic injections at two Newport Beach clinics, but never paid for them, police said Tuesday.

The 50-something woman, known only as Miriam, used different last names -- both believed to be fakes -- and got the wrinkle-curing injections Jan. 6 and Feb. 23, Newport Beach police Sgt. Evan Sailor said.

As Miriam Flemings, she racked up a bill of $1,023 with Dr. Jon Grazer, of 400 Newport Center Drive, and got three injections of Juvederm and one of Botox, Sailor said.

Once she got the injections she simply walked out of the office, police said.

Then, on Feb. 23, she had $850 worth of Botox at Nulooks Med Spa, at 1617 W. Cliff Drive, using the name Miriam Gombar, Sailor said.

After the shots, the roughly 5-foot-6-inch woman stepped outside saying she needed to make a telephone call and left, Sailor said.

The smooth criminal shied away from letting the doctors take before and after photos, and police have been unable to find any surveillance video that contains images of the woman.

But Grazer's office did give police syringes and gauze padding for DNA testing, Sailor said.

Sailor urged doctors and clinicians to be cautious, saying they should get payments in advance or a credit card to hold for security.
