Shameless Lawnmower Man Tries to Rake in Freebie

Said his daughter was killed in crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A Michigan man tried score a free lawn mower by pretending to be the father of a girl killed in a crash, according to cops.

David Randazzo of Roseville was charged with a false pretenses count after claiming his daughter was one of four teens killed last month when their car was crushed by a van near Detroit. Police say the van driver was drunk and she has been charged with murder. Clinton Township police Detective Capt. Richard Maierle says Randazzo, 53, tried to get the mower from a lawn equipment business.

The owner called police because he knew a fund for the victims' families had been set up.
