What to Know

  • Yankees-Dodgers Game 1 has gone into extra innings after the Dodgers tied it up at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth. Shohei Ohtani doubled -- and advanced to third on an error -- before Mookie Betts drove him in on a sac fly.
  • Giancarlo Stanton crushed a two-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Yankees their first lead -- and runs -- of Game 1. It's Stanton's fourth straight game with a home run.
  • The homer came right after the Dodgers broke a scoreless tie on a triple from Kike Hernández and a sac fly from Will Smith in the fifth.
  • Stanton's homer chased Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty, who gave up two runs on five hits, one walk and six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
  • Gerrit Cole, who started for the Yankees, threw six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and striking out four.
