Landshark Lands at Dolphin Stadium

Jimmy Buffet brings Margaritaville to Dolphin, er, Landshark Stadium

It's official. The Miami Dolphins have renamed their home Landshark Stadium as part of a partnership with singer Jimmy Buffett.

The name change from Dolphin Stadium is the fifth since the stadium opened in 1987. Buffett's Margaritaville enterprise includes Landshark Lager, brewed by Anheuser-Busch.

A raucus press conference/Buffet concert was held today to announce the particulars on the deal, with hundreds of Buffet fans turning out to the stadium to hear Jimmy play an updated version of his song "Fins."

But before they could even make the official announcement, stadium brass tipped their hand after the Marlins game on Thursday.

A reporter at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel caught a glimpse of what the new stadium logo might be as it was flashed on the big screen for a brief moment.

Real covert fellas.

Buffett and new Dolphins owner Stephen Ross are friends. The stadium, which has lacked a corporate sponsor for several years, will be the site of the Super Bowl for the fifth time next February. It's the home for the Dolphins, Miami Hurricanes and Florida Marlins.
