Think twice before you toss your leftover chicken nuggets at McDonald's — they could be worth something.
A three-year-old McNugget bearing a resemblance to President George Washington sold on eBay for $8,100, the BBC reported.
Rebekah Speight of Dakota City, Neb. auctioned the patriotic poultry piece to raise money to send 50 children to a church summer camp in Iowa.
She noticed the nugget as she was trashing unfinished food during a visit to McDonald’s with her children in 2009. “Sure enough, it was in the likeness of President George Washington,” she explained on eBay.
The uncanny McNugget still had a home in her freezer three years later, when a sermon at the Sioux City Family Worship Center inspired her to sell it.
eBay temporarily removed the auction last month because it violated the site’s expired food rule, The Associated Press reported. But eBay later emailed Speight, saying it was "willing to make an exception to help your cause.”
The McNugget had 44,795 views, with 1,610 people actively watching the auction, Speight told the Sioux City Journal.
