Cuban blogger and activist Yoani Sanchez arrived in Miami Wednesday night after a series of "difficult" days on the island, reported Venezuelan newspaper Periodico 24 in Spanish.
"We are living through some complicated days. There have been many domestic arrests," Sanchez said as she arrived, according to Periodico 24.
Sanchez said her family had received a number of verbal threats in the last couple of days which have been marked by violence and more than 250 dissident detentions, according to the newspaper.
Although she said she was initially stalled by a police detail around her house, she was finally able to leave to Miami on what she called a "bussiness and family visit" before attending an art and literature festival in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, reported Periodico 24.
