Woman Who Went Missing From Pembroke Pines Publix Found Safe: Police

Demaris Rodriguez, who was reported missing after she disappeared at a Pembroke Pines Publix, was found safe in Georgia and was not abducted, police said.

A woman who disappeared from a Publix grocery store in Pembroke Pines and was reported missing was found safe in Georgia and was not abducted, police said.

Demaris Saavedra Rodriguez, 43, left her home to purchase items at the Publix in the Shops of Silver Lakes, located at 18341 Pines Boulevard, Monday night.

When she did not return home, her family notified police.

Pembroke Pines Police arrived at the Publix just after midnight to find Rodriguez' locked vehicle containing her groceries, but Rodriguez was nowhere to be seen.

She was seen on the store's surveillance cameras entering the parking lot shortly after 10 p.m.

Police said Rodriguez was in the company of Luis Carvajal, a family friend, and were investigating the case as an abduction.

But Rodriguez was found in Brunswick, Georgia with Carvajal Tuesday afternoon, and was acting on her own free will and no foul play was suspected, police said.

Rodriguez's family has asked for privacy, police said.
