The South Florida woman who police say was set on fire at a gas station by her son's father last month is back at work and says she's praying for her attacker.
"When I go to bed with the kids at nighttime or whatever when we say our prayers, we do mention him in our prayers," Naomi Breton said Thursday. "And that's just so my kids don't hold anger toward him, and that they know you have to forgive."
Breton still sports scars from the attack at a Boynton Beach 7-Eleven, allegedly at the hands of Roosevelt Mondesir, the father of her 4-year-old child.
The 52-year-old Mondesir is behind bars on an attempted murder charge. Breton says that their son understands what happened and because of that, the family is in counseling.
"He's asking, 'Did daddy burn you? Did daddy do that to you?' and when he hears me say 'ouch' or something of course he has to mention, 'Did daddy do that?'" Breton said.
Breton, a receptionist at a West Palm Beach transport company, has come far in the past month but is still in pain.
"The area in there is like a little sore," she said, pointing to her arm.
She said the emotional pains linger too. If she can, she avoids the area where the 7-Eleven is and she has some fears when filling her gas tank.
"I think that's part of my healing too," Breton said. "I have to kind of get over it and move on."
