NBC Universal, Inc.

NBC6’s Chelsea Ambriz has your forecast for today, Sunday December 17, 2023.

This Sunday morning still features a few more passing showers and very windy conditions, but things are turning around!

The clouds are clearing out and we will have much improved conditions by ditching the rain. It’ll still be windy throughout the day, creating beach hazard and boat conditions will also still be rough with seas 4 to 7 feet.

Gale warnings are ongoing along with small craft advisories for both the Atlantic waters and the Bay.

The wind remains gusty – wind advisories are in place until 1 pm for gusts up to 50 mph but this afternoon and evening gusts could still be over 20 mph.

The beach will remain hazardous with the ongoing rip current dangers and high surf advisories creating minor coastal flooding from high breaker waves as the surf is still rough. Waves could break 10 – 15 feet in the surf zone but it’s definitely still dangerous to get into the water.

But at least we will have the sunshine back in our forecast today! Highs reach into the upper 70s with the south wind.

We’ll start to get the wind shifting later on today and this will give us a west wind that will start to usher in cooler and dryer air.

Monday and Tuesday will be gorgeous! Monday starts out in the upper 50s to low 60s and ends in the low to mid 70s.

A secondary front arrives Tuesday and this will drop overnight lows into the low 50s and keep afternoon highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

We’ll slowly start warming back up a touch each day but overall this week looks slightly cooler than average and no major rain showers!
