A former ultrasound technician was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to fondling a patient during an examination.
Ivo Diaz Jr., 43, will also serve 12 years of sex offender probation for the 2009 incident.
According to Broward County prosecutors, Diaz was working at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale when he attacked the woman, who was at the medical center for an ultrasound.
Diaz asked a female co-worker to lie for him and say she was in the room during the ultrasound exam, but she refused, prosecutors said.
Diaz, who lives in Miami, had faced 45 years in prison if convicted on sexual battery charges, but prosecutors offered the plea deal because the victim did not want to testify.
