A suspected gunman is behind bars after a shooting in Miami's Liberty Square neighborhood left a four-year-old girl dead, officials said.

Ronald Jones, 24, is facing charges of aggravated battery and second-degree murder, according to an arrest report. Authorities said Jones turned himself in at Northside Station Saturday afternoon.

Officers said shots rang out shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday along Northwest 63rd Street and 13th Court. The incident began when two adults started arguing in their respective cars, officers said. Moments later, the suspect opened fire, shooting at the vehicle with three children inside.

"It's another unfortunate, senseless act of violence that needs to stop," said Mayor Francis Suarez. "People need to find other ways to resolve conflict aside from picking up a gun."

Four-year-old Nyla Jones was left critically injured after the shooting. She was driven by her mother to North Shore Hospital, but did not survive. The other children were grazed either by bullets or the window glass shattering. They did not sustain major injuries and are expected to be okay.

Jones allegedly drove off in a white Nissan with damage to the front of the vehicle. He was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 9:14 p.m. Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
