Two Separate Accidents Involving Fireworks Send Broward County Residents to Hospital Sunday

Two separate accidents involving fireworks sent Broward County residents to local hospitals Sunday night after each lost multiple fingers as a result.

The first incident took place in Pompano Beach near NE 51st Court and 18th Terrace, where a man was rushed to the hospital after reportedly losing three fingers on one hand and injuring two others on the opposite hand in an accident.

The 28 year old also suffered burns to his face, torso and hair. He told paramedicis that he was lighting a fire cracker when it exploded in his hand.

The second took place near Fort Lauderdale, were officials say another man lost three fingers in an accident there.

Law enforcement and Fire Rescue crews in both Miami-Dade and Broward continue to urge residents to practice safety during the July 4th holiday, asking them to let professionals handle fireworks while also reminding them not to shoot off guns to celebrate Independence Day.
