Turbulence Injures Crew on Miami-Bound Flight

Crew members hospitalized after flight from Brazil to MIA experiences turbulence

Some members of an American Airlines crew aboard a Miami-bound flight were hospitalized Sunday night after they were injured by severe turbulence.

American Airlines Flight 980 from Salvador Recife, Brazil was on its way to Miami International Airport when it was hit with bad turbulence, airport spokeswoman Maria Levrant said.

None of the 167 passengers were injured but three flight attendants were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution after the flight landed around 6:30 p.m.

Their injuries and conditions were unknown.
