Jerry weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression over the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday night, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
As of 11 p.m., Jerry had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph as it moved northeast at 7 mph about 1,030 miles west-southwest of the Azores. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph in the previous update six hours before.
There were no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
Little change in strength is forecast over the next 48 hours, as the cyclone is expected to move to the northeast or east-northeast at a faster speed.
