A collision in Oakland Park left three children pinned inside a vehicle in such a way it took 18 firefighters and two "jaws of life" hyrdraulic rescue machines to get them out.
The incident occured when a car carrying five people was side struck by a wayward driver. The children on either side in the back seats were pinned by the side panel and passenger seat, while a third in the middle was unable to get out.
“They were very shaken up and very stressed,” said OPFD battalian chief Steve Hudson. “We had firefighters inside of the car treating the children to keep them calm and safe.”
One jaws of life machine was used to pull the metal apart. A second was used to to cut off the side doors and roof, freeing the children inside.
Miraculously, none of the five people in the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries, though all were transported to hospital.
