Train Crash Ends in Fatality: Fire Rescue

It is still unclear how the crash occurred.

At least one person is dead after a train and a car collided Friday morning in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash happened at 6200 North Andrews Avenue, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Officials said the Tri-Rail train was heading southbound when the collision occurred. The train was carrying about 250 passengers.

Traffic delays were expected and officials encouraged drivers to find an alternate route.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
