MDFR rescued three people hurt in a crane malfunction in NW Miami-Dade.

Three people rescued after a crane malfunction in Northwest Miami-Dade were in critical condition Thursday evening, fire officials said.

The three construction workers were lowered several stories down a building on Northwest 12th Street and Red Road near Miami International Airport.

The men were working on a scaffolding on the fourth floor and fell 20 feet, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

Emergency crews said they had no choice but to use a truck without a working elevator or stairs that could lead rescuers up. Aerial footage showed the three people being placed on gurneys and lowered to the ground.

They were being transported to the hospital. Officials did nott release the victims' conditions.
