The armed robbery occurred just before closing at 5 p.m. Sunday at 2301 West Sample Road, authorities said. The Broward Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter to look for the armed men who made off when 50 cell phones and cash.

Employee Jaime Cruz said one of the men pointed a gun at him and dragged him to the back room.

"He handcuffed me and made me face the file cabinets,” Cruz told NBC 6 South Florida.

Store manager Michael Decristoforo was also working Sunday and said he did his best to keep the peace.

"Scared. Didn't come until after they were gone,” he said. “The only thing that went through my head was don't [let] anyone get shot.”

BSO collected evidence and watched the store's surveillance video. Meanwhile, the store employees, who escaped unharmed, were glad the ordeal was over.

"Everything is replaceable. You can't bring people back," said Decristoforo.

Cruz agreed.

"I'm glad to be going home to my family," Cruz said, finally wrapping his shift around 8 p.m.
