It was a very emotional reunion for 16-year-old Cottard Remy as he met the four Hollywood Police officers who saved his life on Memorial Day.

“Thank you to everyone, thank God,” Cottard Remy said.

Remy was drowning off the waters of Hollywood Beach when two officers entered the rough waters to rescue the teen.

“The water was very nasty that day. Even a strong swimmer would have issues,” said Officer Jason Thomas.

Once they reached the teen, they noticed he was unresponsive so they brought him to shore where two more officers stepped in to help.

“We assessed that he wasn’t breathing no pulse so we initiated CPR,” said Officer Shawn Charles.

They were able to resuscitate Remy on the beach then had him transported to the Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. Because of their efforts these four men were recognized with the Life Saving Award.

It's amazing we get awards but the greatest award is to see this young man alive and walking around. He was a corpse when we got to him,” said Thomas.

Remy says he used to be afraid of the police now he has a newfound respect for them.

“Don’t be scared of police people they are good people they are cool,” said Remy.
