One of the five thugs who coldly shot and killed former Washington Redskin Sean Taylor during a 2007 robbery of the football star's Miami home is trying to withdraw his guilty plea, but he'll have to wait another week.
A judge postponed a hearing today for suspect Venjah Hunte who wants to flip on the deal that would put him behind bars for no more than 29 years. Hunte could face a life sentence if he withdraws his guilty plea.
Hunte, 21, and four accomplices killed the 24-year-old Taylor during a home invasion and robbery attempt. All five suspects are from the Fort Myers area and all are being held in jail without bail.
The others charged in the killing -- Charles Wardlow, 19, Jason Scott Mitchell, 21, Timmy Lee Brown, 17, and Eric Rivera, 19 -- have pled not guilty. Their trial is expected to begin in January.
Taylor helped lead the University of Miami to a 2001 National Championship before becoming an All-Pro safety with the Washington Redskins.
