Miami police said a tanker truck was leaking gasoline and had prompted road closures Wednesday morning.
A crash involving a car and a tanker truck caused a gasoline leak in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, prompting road closures Wednesday morning.
The accident happened at around 4:15 a.m., when the car damaged the gas tanker and it started to leak, Miami Fire Rescue said. The tanker was carrying 9,000 gallons of gas.

WATCH HERE"Our Hazmat team mitigated the leak by putting absorbent, booms, and protecting the storm drains from run off," the fire department said.

But the tanker truck was unable to move until the gas was transferred. Authorities said they waited three hours for the other tanker to arrive.

Fire rescue said there was no danger to the public, but 27th Avenue (North and South) from West Flagler Street to SW 2nd Street was closed.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and should take 22nd Avenue as an alternate route.
