A person is in custody after SWAT teams responded to a home in Fort Lauderdale overnight.
The activity at an apartment building at Dixie Highway and NE 18th Street began well before midnight Thursday and cleared out early Friday morning.

>At around 9:34 p.m. police received a call about a man claiming he needed help. They said they made contact with him in the area of NE 18th Street and obtained information that he had possibly been carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint.
He was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

>A short time later, the Fort Lauderdale police SWAT team responded to the 1100 block of NE 18th Street trying to find the suspect.
Neighbors were out of their homes for hours, unable to get through.
"My wife was telling me there's a lot of police cars out here and everything. I couldn't get through so I'm parking across the street," one man said. "Vehicles coming and going all the time. We saw armored SWAT vehicle come by, there's been drones going all over the place."

That resident also said he heard authorities asking someone to come out with their hands up.
At around 5:15 a.m., two flash bangs went off. Shortly after, authorities said they had detained one person.
"This remains an active investigation as we continue to gather information to confirm the circumstances surrounding this incident," police said.
The name of the person detained was not immediately available.
