Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a house in northwest Miami-Dade Sunday.
The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Northwest 13th Street and when firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames, Miami Fire Rescue officials said.
The fire was quickly brought under control as firefighters searched the house and found no humans inside. A dog that was found inside was pulled to safety, officials said.
Witnesses said they saw a person run from the home with a towel or blanket over their head when the fire started, but that person hasn't been located, officials said.
Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said investigators later determined the fire may have been caused by an electrical overload in the front part of the house.
Officials said a suspicious material was found inside the home which could indicate it had been used as a marijuana grow house.
The incident is still being investigated.
