America Thinks Jeanine Mason Can Dance

Pinecrest native crowned America's Favorite Dancer

Miami thinks it can dance, and apparently so does the rest of the nation.

Jeanine Mason, an 18-year-old Pinecrest native, shimmied, hopped and swayed her way to the title on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" finale last night.

The bouncy teen, who picked up $250,000 for her efforts and was named "America's Favorite Dancer," wasn't the only South Floridian to make an impression.

Brandon Bryant, a 19-year-old from Miami, was the runner-up.

But last night was all about Mason.

"I've spent my whole life looking up to amazing dancers and amazing people, and I've always wanted to be a role model," Jeanine said after winning the title. "And just to have 3,000 people in here..." she said as she choked up with tears.

Over 21 million votes were submitted, with Jeanine coming out on top in the fifth season of the popular dance competition show.

"I never saw Jeanine coming, I never saw you coming," judge Adam Shankman told her. "And you have dominated, week after week."

"You are feisty, you are strong, you are tomboyish!" said "Dance" co-creator and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.
