Republican businessman Nick Loeb announced Thursday that he isn't running for U.S. Senate.
Loeb, who is actress Sofia Vergara's boyfriend, held a press conference in the Sagamore Hotel in Miami Beach to make the announcement.
"Unfortunately, I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for U.S. Senate," Loeb said as Vergara stood to the side while he spoke at a podium.
The Emmy-nominated "Modern Family" star is in town to be with her beau and attend the 5th anniversary celebration of the non-profit group BeLive at the Ritz Carlton on South Beach Thursday night.
Loeb, 36, is the son of former ambassador to Denmark John Loeb, Jr., and grandson of one of the Lehman Brothers. The self-described Teddy Roosevelt Republican ran for the Florida state Senate in 2009, but dropped out to deal with a divorce.
In July, Loeb told the Capitol Hill publication Roll Call that he was “seriously considering” a bid to unseat Democratic Florida Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012.
He was famously hospitalized with a broken pelvis after a car crash last year -- on the same week as the Emmys.
Just hours before the press conference, the media speculated that he would be announcing his candidacy.
