MARATHON, FL – SEPTEMBER 19: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) In this handout photo provided by the Florida Keys News Bureau, traffic rolls on the Seven Mile Bridge on September 19, 2017 in Marathon, Florida. Early Tuesday, Florida Keys law enforcement officials discontinued a checkpoint near the top of the Florida Keys Overseas Highway after Hurricane Irma impacted the Keys Sept. 10. While residents and recovery works are able to traverse the entire 128-mile-long Florida Keys Overseas Highway from Key Largo to Key West, visitors continue being asked to postpone their near-term vacations plans.

The Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys will be shut down temporarily Wednesday night into Thursday morning for repairs.

The Florida Department of Transportation said the bridge will be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday.

Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to cross during those times.

The closure is part of an ongoing bridge construction repair project.
