Broward County Public Schools will be reopening on Friday after they were closed Thursday due to Hurricane Helene.

Schools and district offices will resume normal operations, officials said. This includes before and after school services, after-school activities, local field trips, and evening events and classes.

Broward was among several school districts in South Florida that were closed Thursday ahead of Hurricane Helene, which was expected to make landfall along Florida's northwestern coast as a major hurricane.

Monroe and Palm Beach counties also cancelled classed and closed their facilities on Thursday.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools remained open Thursday.

All of South Florida remains under a tropical storm warning. In the Florida Keys, the threat of multiple feet of storm surge is the greatest concern.
