Rick Ross Arrested for Possession in Louisiana

Pot smell led officers to Carol City rapper's hotel room

Here's guessing Rick Ross hopes his "Teflon Don" nickname comes true: the Miami rapper was arrested for possession of marijuana Friday night in Shreveport, Louisiana.

A strong smell of marijuana led police to Ross' hotel room around 11 p.m. According to the police report, upon entering the room officers saw approximately one gram of the drug in plain view.

Carol City-raised Ross -- whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II -- was charged with possession of marijuana first offense and released on a misdemeanor summons.

Gossip site TMZ reports Ross was in Shreveport to perform at a club, and the club's celebrity guest of the night was also arrested. Philadelphia Eagles start Jason Peters was booked for a loud music violation and resisting arrest after an incident in which he refused to turn down his car stereo.

Ross, 35, may not mind his arrest so much: after pictures showing him on duty as a Florida corrections officer in the early 1990s surfaced, image-conscious convicted drug trafficker "Freeway" Ricky Ross sued him for copyright infringement. The case was later dismissed.
