A prisoner complaining of chest pain escaped to a getaway Maserati while he was being taken to the hospital in Miami on Saturday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade Police Department.

"When they arrived at the ER, the prisoner (while handcuffed) escaped to an awaiting newer model, silver Maserati (unknown tag) which then fled from the scene," police said.

In a new update released to the media on Saturday, Miami Dade Police Department further clarified they had arrested Collins after a records check by a US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent at the SeaPort revealed he had various non-local warrants.

Then, when he complained of chest pains, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported him to JMH Main Emergency Room (ER) for a medical evaluation. After being medically cleared and at approximately 2:25 pm, the MDPD officer was in the process of transporting him to MDPD Warrants Bureau, when the prisoner, who was handcuffed, escaped to an awaiting newer model Silver Maserati, bearing Alabama tag GBT862 that fled the scene.

Shortly before 4:00 pm, a License Plate Reader (LPR) detected the subject vehicle in Jupiter, FL.

The subject is a black male named Theodrick Collins, DOB 02/28/1988. He is approximately 5’9 and medium-built. There is no clothing description, and he was arrested for various felony warrants (unknown what the warrants are for at this time).

Several “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) have been issued and a multi-agency search is currently taking place.

This is the vehicle the suspect fled in, a newer model Silver Maserati, bearing Alabama tag GBT862 that fled the scene.
