A prisoner complaining of chest pain escaped to a getaway Maserati while he was being taken to the hospital in Miami on Saturday, according to Miami-Dade Police Department.
Police said 36-year-old Theodrick Collins was taken into custody at PortMiami Saturday after a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent found he had several out-of-state warrants.
Officers later took Collins to the emergency room of Jackson Memorial Hospital at around 2:25 p.m. because he was complaining of chest pain.

According to police, after Collins was medically cleared and in the process of leaving the hospital with an officer, the handcuffed prisoner got into an awaiting Silver Maserati and escaped.
Investigators say the Maserati had an Alabama tag “GBT862”.
About an hour and a half after Collins escaped, a License Plate Reader detected the Maserati in Jupiter.

Police described Collins as approximately 5-foot-9 and with a medium-built. His license is from Alabama and it’s unclear why he was in Miami.
They said a multi-agency search was taking place.
