The suspect had already fled the scene prior to police arrival, authorities said.

Witness Robert Neil says he saw the man shortly after he was stabbed.

"It was a bad stab because he was not actively showing pain, crying out, or the hurt of the intake of the sharp weapon. He just was laying there," Neil said.

The scene blocking off part of the Broward County Transit Central Terminal. Bloody clothes were left behind as police investigated.

Hours later crime scene investigators returned, climbing on top of the convenience store across from where the stabbing happened. They left with something in an evidence box.

Police confirmed they were following up on the investigation, looking for evidence.

"It’s shocking to me, but it’s not at the end of the day," another man, who did not provide his name, said. "This is normal life out here in Broward County."

Security guards walked around the terminal after the scene cleared. NBC6 learned that they’re typically there, but some say that’s not enough.

"If you got poor people who has to take a bus for a dollar and two dollars, and they’re packing this place, there should be more security that takes active role in securing the area, not just the terminal," Neil said.

"I ain’t scared; I feel uncomfortable that you can’t live your life no more out here," the other man added. "It’s getting ridiculous."

Anyone with information should contact Fort Lauderdale police.

The bus terminal appeared to be operating as normal.
