Police search for armed subject that shot man in Plantation

A domestic dispute led to a shooting in Plantation. NBC6’s Niko Clemmons reports.

One man was killed and a suspect, the victim's stepson, is still on the loose after a shooting in Plantation on Saturday, authorities and family members said.

Plantation police said at around 1 p.m. that the situation was a "domestic incident" and they were actively searching for the shooter, who they have identified but not named publicly.

According to relatives, the victim is Clayous Peart, who went by Paul.

Loved ones and neighbors of the Apple Creek community told NBC6 that officers were in their yards searching for that suspect.

"I went outside. 'Can I help you?' [The officer] says, 'Get back inside, there's somebody we're looking for,'" the president of the homeowner's association said.

He described the victim as "an outstanding person, very friendly."

Authorities did not provide more information on what may have led to the gunfire.
