His mother, who didn't want to speak on camera, said the last time she saw her son was the night before the shooting. The teen told her he was going on a party bus with his friends and would see her in the morning.

She said she didn't know if the shooting was random or targeted.

Information on a motive is under investigation, police said Monday.

Witnesses said they heard fighting in the parking lot before a single gunshot.

The family said Murray’s goal after serving in the Army was to become a firefighter. On Thursday, they will hold a lantern release in the teen’s memory.

Police are still searching for a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS).
