Man Shot Inside Davie CVS Pharmacy Dies

The male victim shot earlier on Wednesday after a Davie CVS shooting has died. NBC 6’s Michael Spears reports.

The victim shot inside a CVS pharmacy on Wednesday has died, the Davie Police Department said.

Officers arrived at the CVS located at 4610 S. University Drive around 1 p.m. after reports of a person being shot in the chest inside the store.

The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery, police said. Authorities will identify the victim after the notification of next-of-kin.

Police said officers were questioning a suspect who was detained as he walked out of the store.

Witnesses told police the victim and suspect may have been arguing just before the shooting.

"I saw a bunch of police officers rushing to the parking lot over here. As they arrived, the gentleman came out with his hands behind his head, came out, and he hit the ground," witness David Rodriguez said. "Pretty intense and just tons of cops. It's just scary because it could've been anybody, you know, it could've been anybody. Anybody could've got caught in the crossfire."

Police said there were customers inside the store at the time but no one else was injured, adding that neither the victim nor the shooter are CVS employees.

The shooting happened less than a day after a shooting inside another CVS store in Miami-Dade.
