Man arrested after woman accidentally shot in foot in Miami Beach liquor store

A woman was accidentally shot in the foot in Miami Beach. NBC6’s Jamie Guirola reports

A man is facing charges after a woman was accidentally shot in the foot inside a Miami Beach liquor store Tuesday.

The shooting happened at Ocean 9 Liquor in the 800 block of Collins Avenue, Miami Beach Police said.

Police said it appears the gun was accidentally discharged and resulted in the victim being struck in the foot.

The woman could be heard crying out in pain and yelling for help in video footage from the scene.

She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. A second person also suffered minor injuries from the muzzle flash.

The video also showed a man who is believed to be the gun owner get down on the ground before police detained him.

The man, identified as 24-year-old Antonio Alexander Foreman, of Plantation, was arrested on charges of tampering with physical evidence while armed and culpable negligence.

According to an arrest report, surveillance video from the store showed Foreman reach into a satchel that was across his body. Moments later, a gun goes off.

Foreman put the satchel on the floor and walked away, then returned, grabbed the satchel and left the store, the report said.

He was found nearby a short time later and told officers he'd placed the gun in a trashcan, where it was recovered, the report said.

Foreman admitted to having the gun and said it went off accidentally, adding that he left because he was scared, the report said.
