North Miami Beach Police said one person died in a drive-by shooting Friday afternoon that also left one person critically injured.
Police responded to a home near the intersection of NE 173rd Street and NE 174th Drive, after witness reports of at least three men opening fire before taking off in a silver or gray Chevrolet Cruze.
"They pull up, they get out of the car and they fire shots at multiple parties they see outside," said North Miami Beach Police Major Kathy Katerman. "[Then] they get back in the car and go."
Police found two shooting victims, one inside a white Mercedes-Benz and another in a yard near the scene. Both victims were airlifted as trauma alerts to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. One victim, 49-year-old Kyron Richmond, died shortly afterward.
Neighbors said Richmond moved into the neighborhood to help take care of his 94-year-old aunt after her husband passed away.
"You have to step up to the plate and he was doing that for his aunt," one neighbor said.
Richmond was mowing a lawn when he was caught in the crossfire. Neighbors said Richmond was a kind man who frequently cut lawns for his neighbors on the street.

"He was a good guy," said Justin St. Louis, Richmond's friend. "Never disrespected, always minded his own business."
Friends said they will all come together to help take care of Richmond's aunt.
"Everyone will take care of her now," one friend said. "We feel like that's our responsibility cause he was that good to everybody."
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
