Recruiters at a mega job fair were looking to speak with candidates for over 2,500 openings at a mega job fair at the BB&T Center in Sunrise Tuesday.
Dozens of companies were at the job fair, including the Miami Dolphins, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and Rick Case Automotive. A job fair official said there was a high chance that companies would be hiring on the spot.
"I’m hoping to find a job. I’ve been out of work for two months now," said Doreen Blanks, who lost her job when her mother died.
The fair opened at the arena at 1 Panther Parkway in Sunrise at 10 a.m. Parking and admission were free, organizers said.
" I go out every afternoon and I put out applications. But everyone tells you to go online and fill out applications online," Blanks said. "But what happens when people font have s computer at home or are computer illiterate?"
Those attending the job fair were advised to bring 50 copies of their resume, to dress professionally for a job interview, and to ask the hiring manager at each booth for their business card to follow up.
