A Miami man who was sexting and exchanging naked photos with a 12-year-old girl was arrested when he showed up at a store to meet with her, police said.

Yosvany Fernandez Gonzalez, 37, was arrested Thursday on charges including lewd and lascivious conduct on a child, traveling to meet a minor, electronic transmission harmful to minors, and four counts of child pornography possession, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

Miami Police officials said the arrest was made by the department's Internet Crimes Against Children unit.

According to police, the girl's mother discovered her daughter had been exchanging explicit messages and sending nude photos to a man, and found naked pictures of the man on the girl's phone.

The mother contacted police, while Fernandez Gonzalez arranged to meet who he thought was the girl at a Target store, police said.

When Fernandez Gonzalez arrived at the store, he was taken into custody by detectives.

The girl later told investigators she met Fernandez Gonzalez when she went to the lobby of her building alone, where he approached her and asked for her phone number, an arrest report said.

"The victim made the defendant aware that she was 12 years old, and he told her he was 27 years old and he did not mind," the report said.

She gave him her phone number and a short time later they started exchanging messages and he started sending her lewd photos and videos of himself, the report said.

He also sent her messages in Spanish that said "I want to f--- you" and "erase everything," the report said.

The girl said that on Wednesday, after she got home from school, Fernandez Gonzalez told her to meet him in her building's laundry room, the report said.

She asked her mother twice if she could leave but the mother denied her, and a short time later, the mother looked at her daughter's phone.

Later, while exchanging messages with a detective who he thought was the girl, Fernandez Gonzalez wrote "I want to see you, because I like you, I want to give you a kiss," and "I only want to give you delicious kisses only," the report said.

Fernandez Gonzalez was booked into jail, and appeared before Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer on Friday.

"The victim had a very alert mother who took her 12-year-old child's phone and found these inappropriate conversations and photos," Glazer said.

Fernandez Gonzalez was appointed a public defender and had his bond set at $55,000, including house arrest with a GPS monitor. Glazer also ordered him to stay away from the girl and her apartment building.

"The Miami Police Department remains dedicated to protecting children from all crime and will work tirelessly to identify and bring those prey on the young to justice. Therefore, if you believe you were a victim targeted by Fernandez, we urge you to come forward," the police department said in a statement.
