Miami International Boat Show: What to Know Before You Go

What to Know

  • The Miami International Boat Show, located at the Miami Marine Stadium, is in its 77th year.
  • The massive event takes place from February 15 to the 19th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Apart from boats, there are many additional features at the boat show this year.

The Miami International Boat Show is sailing into South Florida, and that means thousands of boating enthusiasts are expected to flood Miami Marine Stadium as the nautical event gets underway.

Approximately 1,400 boats will be on display during the show, with 700 vessels docked on the water and another 700 on land. There will also be plenty of interactive events and activities for attendees to enjoy, including a boating simulator and hands-on powerboat skills training. (For the complete guide of events, click here.)

The event is expected to draw more than 100,000 onlookers from 35 different countries, according to the official website. The attraction will span more than 1 million square feet and will feature marine merchandise available for purchase, according to the official website.

Described as the “boating event of the season,” the show is kid-friendly and expected to bring a sizable economic boost to the area. The overall economic impact is projected to be $854 million, with $53 million from out-of-town travelers, the website says. The event is also expected to bring 6,000 full-time jobs to the region.

The boat show begins February 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The last day to attend is February 19.

There are several different ways to get there, including water taxis and shuttles. (Both services are free.) The water taxis run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and are stationed at Bayfront Park and the AmericanAirlines Arena. The last inbound to Marine Stadium will be at 4:30 p.m., officials say.

Like the water taxis, the free shuttle service runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The shuttles leave from four main locations:

-AmericanAirlines Arena (601 Biscayne Boulevard)

-Arthur Lamb Jr. Road & Rickenbacker Causeway

-Historic Virginia Key Beach (4020 Virginia Beach Drive)

-Miami Seaquarium (4400 Rickenbacker Causeway)

Ride-sharing services like Uber, Lyft and taxis can also take you to the show, but can’t drop you off at the entrance along Rickenbacker Causeway. Anyone using a ride-sharing service such as Uber or Lyft is advised to direct the driver to Miami Seaquarium, where shuttle buses will take you to the entrance of the show.

Ticket prices vary. The cost is $40 for the premiere event on February 15, and $25 for anyone 13 and up. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

If you’re planning on attending the show for more than one day, two-day passes and five-day passes are an option. A two-day pass costs $45, while a five-day pass is $100.

While the event is kid friendly, no dogs or pets are allowed (with the exception of service animals.)
