Officials said the motorman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

"Our deputy is in stable, but critical, condition; he’s got multiple fractures and he’s currently being assessed by the staff here at the hospital," said Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz.

The motorman's identity hasn't been released, but officials said he is 35 years old and an 8-year veteran.

The incident comes less than two months after three deputies from the Palm Beach County motorcycle unit were killed in a crash.

"It is obviously something that we’re always constantly aware of but ultimately, there are a lot of motorcycles on the road, and this is something that could affect all drivers," Cordero-Stutz said.
