A Miami bakery owner opened fire on a trio of armed suspects who robbed him at his business early Tuesday, police said.
The owner was opening the bakery at 503 Northwest 12th Avenue around 5 a.m. when he was approached by a man who asked him in Spanish what time it was, Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega said.
When the owner turned around, he saw the man was armed. Two other armed men approached the owner and demanded his wallet, Vega said.
The owner handed over his wallet, but as the suspects were leaving in a vehicle, the owner pulled out his own handgun and opened fire on the suspects and their vehicle, Vega said.
The suspects were able to flee the scene. Vega said it appeared that no one was injured.
Police are searching for the suspects, who may have been involved in other robberies on Tuesday and Monday, Vega said.
