Drive-thru COVID-19 testing to begin Wednesday at Marlins Park. NBC 6’s Willard Shepard reports.

Another Miami-Dade coronavirus testing site is set to open at Marlins Park Wednesday, county mayor Carlos Gimenez said.

At a news conference Tuesday, Gimenez said the drive-thru testing location would be specifically for seniors 65 and older experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and would require an appointment.

Only one other person can be in the vehicle when a patient is being tested. That second person will also be tested, Gimenez said.

Gimenez also added that the county was looking at opening testing sites in south Dade and West Kendall.

"We're working rapidly as we can to get more testing sites as soon as more testing kits arrive," Gimenez said.

The county's call center to schedule an appointment will open at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The number is 305-499-8767.
