- Senator Marco Rubio is being attacked in a new ad by his Republican primary opponent for not supporting the party's Presidential nominee.
Republican Carlos Beruff is releasing his first attack ad against U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and criticizing him for not supporting presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump.
The developer will spend $1 million a week for at least two weeks on the ad that will air statewide beginning Wednesday.
Beruff is the only major Republican to stay in the race after Rubio decided at the last minute to seek a second term.
The ad begins with an announcer asking, "Why does Marco Rubio refuse to support Donald Trump?'' It then questions whether it's "sour grapes'' over losing to Trump in Florida's presidential primary.
The ad points out that Rubio doesn't agree with Trump on immigration, including a temporary ban on Middle Eastern immigrants.
It ends with Beruff saying he does support Trump.

A spokeswoman for Rubio's campaign responded to the ad, saying in part:
“Carlos Beruff’s love of Charlie Crist is far deeper and more real than his newly professed love of Donald Trump. Switching his allegiance is just like the political insider that Beruff has long been.”
