Authorities said the armed suspect was believed to be involved in a double shooting the day before, and a source tells us that initial incident happened at NW 27th Avenue and NW 30th Street. NBC6’s Julia Bagg reports.
A man wanted in a homicide was shot and killed by Miami-Dade deputies during a shootout as they attempted to take him into custody on Monday night, authorities said.
Investigators said they were surveilling the suspect at the Extended Stay America on 7th Street in the Blue Lagoon neighborhood when they tried to apprehend him as he got in his vehicle.

As deputies approached the suspect at around 9:30 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Det. Angel Rodriguez said they were "met with an exchange of gunfire."
The man, whose name has not been released, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Video of the scene provided by a witness shows what appears to be a body inside a car in the parking lot.
"Despite the exchange of gunfire and the fact that these detectives were trying to take this armed and dangerous subject into custody, fortunately, no deputies were injured and there were no other reported injuries," Rodriguez said.
A source close to the investigation told NBC6 that the suspect had been involved in the deadly double shooting outside a food truck at Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 30th Street earlier Monday.

The sheriff's office also said they recovered a gun from inside the man's car.
The shooting remains under investigation by Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which is standard practice in police shootings.
