A man from Tampa found himself behind bars after police say he threw nunchucks at another vehicle during what police say appears to be a road rage incident over texting while driving.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies told NBC affilette WFLA-TV that the incident took place Saturday north of the city, where 56-year-old Leonardo Fernandez was arrested on charges that include throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle along with probation violation.
According to police, the victim said he cut Fernandez off and believed he was texting at the time. After gesturing for him to put the phone down, the victim said Fernandez became enraged and started to drive recklessly.
After both were stopped at a red light, Fernandez allegedly got out of his van and threw nunchucks at the victim’s SUV. The back window was shattered, but the victim was not hurt.
